Flute Instruction

Individualized Lessons for Every Stage of Musical Growth

From her studio in La Cañada, serving Pasadena, La Crescenta, Glendale, and the greater Los Angeles area, Ruth Kasckow offers personalized flute instruction grounded in over 30 years of teaching experience. Lessons emphasize beautiful tone, strong technique, musical expression, and healthy movement in a supportive and nurturing environment. Instruction is available both in person and via Zoom, offering flexibility for students’ schedules and learning preferences.

Young Musicians — building strong foundations, confidence, and a love of music while preparing students for ensembles, recitals, competitions, and tCertificate of Merit program.

College and Professional Flutists — refining technique through anatomy-informed instruction, developing efficiency, expressive depth, and sustainable performance practices.

She is passionate about helping musicians transform their musical practice and performance with accurate anatomical understanding and awareness of how the body is structured and designed to move.

Franklin Method®

Movement Education for Everyday Ease

As a Level 4 educator in the Franklin Method, Ruth offers workshops and sessions that explore functional anatomy through imagery and gentle movement. Participants gain tools to improve posture, breathing, and mobility while discovering new possibilities for ease and balance.


Performance

Kasckow–Pezzone Duo

In collaboration with pianist Bryan Pezzone, Ruth performs chamber music rooted in attentive listening, expressive depth, and musical storytelling. Their performances reflect a shared commitment to nuance, connection, and artistic exploration.



CDs and Books

Ruth Kasckow composed and self-published Chinese Folk Song Suite for flute quartet at the request of the La Canada High School band for their trip to China. Ruth composed The Flute Duet Practice Books 1 and 2 for students to make playing scales, arpeggios and thirds more fun. All three books are available for sale at Fluteworld.com. 

Ruth's two CDs are a compendium of music for flute alone and flute and piano composed by French and German composers. Her collaborative pianist is Christopher Brennan, DMA. Both CDs are available on CD Baby.
